BIOGRAPHY
Steven Kinney, PT, DPT has is board certified in orthopaedic physical therapy and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist. He also is a fellow in orthopaedic manual physical therapy. He has practiced in outpatient, subacute rehab, inpatient rehab, and acute care hospital settings with diverse patient populations. He currently is working at Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey. There he sees a wide variety of patients including older adults with vestibular deficits, concussions, imbalance, fall related injuries, and gait dysfunction. Steve works with harm reduction groups and is a trainer for naloxone administration courses to improve the care for individuals who use substances. He has worked with PT in the community to train individuals for naloxone administration as well as other community outreach efforts. Steve’s research interests include opioids and safe fall landing strategies. He has taught and developed continuing education courses for physical therapists and other healthcare professionals at the state and national level. Additionally, he serves as a lab instructor and guest lecturer at Baylor University and Kean University.
STATEMENT
Steve through his service as education chair of the Population Health SIG plans to offer education offerings that support the spread of population health strategies for physical therapy professionals. This includes individuals working in clinical roles as well as individuals working outside of traditional clinical roles. Steve's experiences in clinical, academic, professional education, and other non-traditional roles will help the Population Health SIG educate others.
