A Heartfelt Thank You to Matt Mesibov for Six Years of Leadership and Dedication

As we reflect on the incredible journey of the Academy over the past six years, we are filled with gratitude and admiration for Matt Mesibov, whose leadership has been instrumental in shaping the Academy into the innovative, dynamic organization it is today.

Matt’s tenure as President has been marked by significant accomplishments that have set a new standard for our future. Here are just a few highlights of what he has achieved:

• Transformation to an Academy: Under Matt’s guidance, the Academy successfully rebranded and evolved into the Academy of Leadership and Innovation. This transformation has paved the way for new opportunities and a stronger presence in our field.
• Strategic Vision: Matt led the development and implementation of a new, forward-thinking strategic plan, aligning our goals and initiatives with the evolving needs of the profession.
• Strengthening Partnerships: One of Matt’s key contributions was the hiring of a new association management company, ensuring that the Academy had the infrastructure and expertise needed to support our continued growth.
• Successful Signature Events: Matt played a central role in the successful execution of the 2023 Party with a Purpose and ALI Fest in 2024—events that not only celebrated our community but also raised the visibility of our mission and impact.
• A Culture of Collaboration: Throughout his leadership, Matt fostered an environment of collaboration and open communication, always seeking feedback from the team and incorporating diverse perspectives to help shape the Academy’s direction.

Reflecting on his leadership, Matt shares that one of his most significant contributions has been preparing and mentoring the incoming Academy president, ensuring a smooth transition and continued success for the Academy. He also highlighted the important work done alongside the board, executive director, and bylaws chair to prepare for upcoming bylaw updates—key steps in the Academy’s future.

Vice President Jeremy Bittel also shared his thoughts on Matt’s impact, emphasizing the rebranding and visioning of the Academy of Leadership and Innovation, as well as the integration of top-down and bottom-up collaboration, which have both strengthened our internal cohesion. Additionally, Matt’s work in procuring and developing a new management group and introducing new SIGs and CGs to support the profession has set us up for future growth and success.

Matt’s leadership has truly reimagined the Academy and its role within the community, and we are excited to continue building on the foundation he has laid.
