The APTA Academy of Leadership & Innovation is proud to offer advanced education and tools to elevate therapists toward leadership roles in health care. 

The Leadership, Advocacy, Management and Practice (LAMP) program goes beyond clinical experience to address the needs of physical therapy professionals in leadership and management skills. 

These training courses are offered as pre-conferences at the annual APTA Combined Sections Meeting preconference, and as in-person or virtual programs scheduled throughout the year.  

Led by well-known presenters, these courses are designed for all healthcare professionals. Past participants have included PTs, PTAs, OTs, COTAs, SLPs, physicians, nurses, human resource managers, coders, educators and others in the field.

Focus on Developing Your Personal Skills From Within

1. LAMP Leadership 101
Focuses on your individual development, because you truly need to understand yourself before you can understand and lead others.
Two-day, in-person weekend course. 

2. LAMP Leadership 201
Deepen your understanding of the skills required for effective leadership.
Two-day, in-person weekend course.

3. LAMP Leadership 301
Earn your Certificate in Healthcare Leadership. This is where you put learning into action, through teaching, in-service, and reflection.

Focus on Best-Practice Strategies for Outwardly Managing Others

1. Management Essentials
Examines current issues and trends faced by healthcare managers and leaders and provides tools to effectively and efficiently get the “work” done.
Six-week course, offered virtually.

2. Advanced Management Concepts
Engages participants in executive best practices to lead organizations to peak performance. Participants will examine health care barriers and how to overcome them to build value-creating organizations. 
Six-week course, offered virtually.

3. Exam
Complete both Management courses and take an exam to become a Board Certified Healthcare Executive.
