The Bylaws Committee reviews and updates the Academy bylaws as necessary to keep them current with the APTA requirements and to meet the objectives of the Academy. The Committee presents proposed amendments to the membership and updates the Policy and
Procedure Manual to maintain consistency with Section and Association policies and actions.
Chair: Aliya Chaudry, PT, MBA, JD Primary Programs/Projects: Bylaw development and revision; organization policy development.
The Education Committee will lead ALI in planning educational and professional development opportunities for its members.

The Finance Committee is responsible for overseeing the financial affairs of the Academy. The Treasurer is the Chair of the Committee. The Committee prepares the annual budget and reviews and prepares amendments to policies and procedures associated with
the Section's finances.
Chair: Amit Mehta, PT, DPT, MBA Primary Programs/Projects: Develop and review budget and financial reports; coordinate annual internal audit.
With rapid changes in the dynamics of the healthcare work environment, leadership is now more important than ever before. This program is for anyone interested in better self-understanding so they can
then develop skills to lead others. Chair: Susan Lukens PT, DPT
Offer therapist-focused management and executive education and certification to provide tools and credentials to prepare more therapists for successful health care leadership.
Chair: Russell Stowers, PTA, EdD
Member Engagement and Awards develops the Academy marketing, membership recruitment and retention plans. This Committee, often in collaboration with the Research Committee, occasionally conducts member surveys to determine member needs and expectations,
as well as practice/policy trends among members.
Chair: Vien Vu, DPT Primary Programs/Projects: Market benefits of Academy membership; coordinate and staff Academy booth at CSM.
This Nominating Committee consists of three members (one chair, two members) who promote and recruit Academy members for leadership roles. The nominating committee members serve for 3 years, and the chair role is filled in the final year of service. This
committee coordinates all Academy awards as well as monitors and recommends Academy members for APTA awards.
Co-Chairs: Matthew Geary, PT, DPT, EdD
The Programming Committee coordinates scheduling and content for the Academy's many educational sessions at APTA's Combined Sections Meeting and audio conferences for the Section. This committee is unique in that it offers a six-year term where all other
committees are three-year appointments.
Chair: Allison Kellish, PT, DPT, PhD | Neeka Menard PT, DPT Primary Programs/Projects: Develop and coordinate continuing education content for CSM and audio conferences.
The Publications Committee is currently assessing and reimagining Academy communications. Committee members assist with soliciting and editing content for regular communications and new journal, along with monitoring policies associated with these resources.
The Chair provides oversight of all manuscripts during the submission and peer review process. Committee members may serve as mentors for authors.
Chair: Roland Perreault, PT, DPT, MBA Primary Programs/Projects: Solicit and edit content for Academy of Leadership and Innovation.
The Policy and Innovative Practice Committee explores how policies affect the health care environment, and what innovative methods are being used in response to these policies.
Chair: Vrunda Kapadia PT, DPT Primary Programs/Projects: Represent Academy at APTA-sponsored federal and state government affairs forums annually.
The Research Committee works to stimulate professional research in the areas of physical therapy management, administration, health services and policy. The Committee solicits and reviews abstracts for poster and platform presentations on behalf of the
Academy for the APTA's Combined Sections Meeting (CSM). The Research Committee selects winners annually for the Section's Best Poster and Best Platform presentations at CSM. The Committee also solicits
and reviews research grant proposals for potential funding through the Section's Grant Program, then makes recommendations to the Academy Board regarding proposal funding awards.
Co-Chairs: Allison Butcher PT, DPT Primary Programs/Projects: Solicit and review CSM poster and platform abstracts; review and recommend Academy grant proposals.
