Resource Guide for Training Disability Competence

APTA Academy of Leadership and Innovation offers a number of resources to its members related to health policy and reimbursement.

2021 Centennial Scholar Capstone Project: 

Improving Health Equity for People with Disabilities Through Training a More Competent Physical Therapy Workforce

People with disabilities comprise the largest underserved group in the United States (26% of Americans) and experience numerous health inequities stemming from organizational, physical, communication, and attitudinal barriers. To address this, APTA Academy of Leadership and Innovation developed training resources to improve disability competence among physical therapists.

The training resources developed as part of this Centennial Scholar Capstone project provide practical teaching resources to assist faculty and clinicians to take steps towards adopting and embedding the Core Competencies on Disability for Health Care Education into their programs.
