BIOGRAPHY
Originally from Queens, New York, I have practiced Physical Therapy for 27 years in various capacities and in various states spanning the east coast. Starting off my Physical Therapy career at Temple University Hospital after graduating from Temple University
in 1996, initiated my love of the fast-paced acuity and teaching environment of the inpatient setting. Transitioning to early intervention in the school systems of suburban Philadelphia after starting a family a few years later allowed me to experience
the pediatric side of Physical Therapy. A few years after that, after further expanding my family, transitioning to home care in Delaware allowed me to provide an increased intensity to the term patient-centered care as I was able to provide what
my patients needed in their own home environments. As our family transitioned to Dallas, Texas in 2005, I became a part of the Baylor Scott & White Health System where I have been able to move up the clinical ladder from staff therapist to Orthopedic
Supervisor to Clinical Manager of the Level I trauma center and flagship hospital in the North Texas sector of the health system. I have been responsible for leading and implementing various process improvement initiatives not only at my local hospital
but also throughout the Baylor Scott & White Health System, while also managing daily operations of our local therapy department of approximately 120 staff members. Through spearheading the transition to and through 2 electronic health systems,
I have discovered my passion for healthcare informatics. I have been married to my loving husband for 27 years and we have 2 young adult children. We enjoy family trips, connecting with family and friends and serving in ministry together.
STATEMENT
Although this is my initial step into a leadership role within the APTA, I am excited to open a new door while expanding myself in my professional career. Now that I am an empty nester, I am growing my practice, my knowledge, as well as my voice
by pursuing my transitional doctorate degree, which I will complete in December 2023. I commit to continuing my learning and growing process while being an integral member of the Academy
of Leadership & Innovation section.
