LAMPLighter Award

Purpose:
The purpose of the LAMPLighter Award is to recognize those who have affected significant change through formal or informal leadership.

The recipient will exemplify the spirit of leadership within the profession of physical therapy through, but not limited to, the following: 

  • Applying personal leadership skills in formal or informal leadership roles.
  • Changing culture, transforming organizations, and/or sparking innovation.
  • Implementing methods to keep the spirit of leadership alive throughout the profession.

Eligibility:

  • Nominations may be submitted from individual Academy members and all APTA Chapters or Sections.
  • Nominees are not required to be Academy members.
  • Nominations must be substantiated by written information including the application form and
    at least one letter of reference attesting to the nominee’s leadership.    
  • Current members of the Academy Board of Directors are not eligible for this award.
  • Outgoing members of the Academy Board of Directors are eligible for this award.

Criteria:

The following criteria will serve as a measurement rubric for assessing the merits of submitted
nominations:

  • Clear explanation of leadership initiative(s) [30%].
  • Creativity/innovation with leadership efforts [30%].
  • Magnitude of change occurring due to the nominee’s leadership [20%].
  • Weight of letters of support from constituents involved in the nominee’s leadership initiative [20%].

Deadline:

  •  Nominations must be submitted no later than November 14. 

Presentation:

  •  Awarded annually at the Academy reception at CSM.
